The original Buggs jig head is the perfect design for fishing the Gulf Coast and all the way to the Carolinas. We use a premium black nickel hook that stands up to the abuse dished out by the fish and the environment. We offer the head in three weights to suit the skinny water all the way to the deep channels, guts, and reefs. The head is made to always land hook point up to reduce snags. This gives the fisherman the flexibility to swim the lures, slowly bump them along the bottom, or sight cast wtih them. Read on to learn about the two models.
Buggs Curl-Tail JigThe Buggs Curl-Tail Jig combines the superior action of bunny with a curl-tail grub in the colors fish love to eat! You can swim this lure, bump it along the bottom, or sight cast with it. This flexibility makes it deadly on Gulf Coast redfish, trout, flounder, snook, and just about any gamefish you'll find! The curl tail grub enhances the action as it flutters like the tail of a baitfish. Plus we've tied a custom screw lock to the hook shank so the tail can be changed out when the fish tear it up.
The 1/8 oz. model can be cast with spinning or baitcast equipment, and will land softly for sight casting applications. It will fall more slowly than a soft plastic on an 1/8 oz. shad head, making it ideal for use in skinny water. The 1/4 oz. model is the most versatile, working shallow and deeper water. Both the 1/8 and 1/4 oz. models sport a 3" tail. They land quietly for sight casting situations.
The 3/8 oz. model will cast a mile, and work the depths of the surf, intracoastal, or your favorite reef. It also excels when you need to get down through the current when the tide is ripping, or to get down to the big fish when working the birds. A 4" tail completes the package, and looks like a mouthful to trophy fish!
Double Bunny JigThe Double Bunny Jig utilizes the enticing action of the double bunny tail. The profile is more streamlined than the Curl-Tail jig, making it an ideal shrimp or small baitfish imitation in Gulf Coast environments. The Double Bunny Jig excels in sight casting situations and when bumped along the bottom, where any current or movement of the rod tip makes the double bunny tail come alive!
The 1/8 oz. model can be cast with ML spinning or baitcast equipment, and excels when quiet presentations and shorter casts in skinny water are required. The lure lands softly, and gets to the bottom where is presents an appetizing profile of a shrimp or baitfish scurrying along the bottom. Fish go nuts for the Double Bunny jig worked this way!
The 1/4 oz. model is the more versatile, providing longer casts and the ability to work deeper water. The double bunny tail is a bit longer, presenting a larger profile. Big Bonefish, Permit, and Redfish have all fallen for this jig!
